Wu Zhun Willing To Help Promote Brunei Tourism

THE Brunei Tourism Board sees the potential of collaborating with Bruneian-born Taiwanese celebrity Wu Zhun, whose real name is Goh Kiat Chun, to help market Brunei as a tourist destination.With more than 50 fans and media from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan that follow Goh to Brunei, it seems prospective to build such cooperation. Fans and the mass media came for the opening of Wu Zhun new gym and hotel, Fitness Zone and The Palm Garden Hotel.In a previous interview with The Brunei Times, Wu Zhun had mentioned about was a travel programme which was interested in featuring him in an episode on Brunei. "They want to feature me in the country where I grew up, to know more about Brunei and so on. But I am currently busy with my own film that I cannot do this now. However, the Brunei Tourism has offered me full support if the show should start filming soon," he said.Sheikh Jamaluddin Sheikh Mohamed, the Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Tourism, said, "Wu Zhun's manager formally approached us to use Wu Zhun as a tourism ambassador of Brunei. We think that's a lovely idea. He has turned into a big name, and his fame would be able to create a lot of awareness about Brunei.""By developing a close working relationship with Wu Zhun, we will be able to capitalise on his fame, and inspire younger generations of Brunei to be as famous as him," he added. Sheikh Jamaluddin also mentioned that one of the main target markets was China, but said that it would also attract more attention in Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries."It has come to my attention that Wu Zhun is not just famous in these few countries, but also in countries with a major Asian community, such as Australia, Malaysia and so on," he said. Wu Zhun had made it clear in the interview with The Brunei Times that he wished to use his fame to help boost tourism in the sultanate. Wu Zhun gained fame as a member of the Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit, and has already starred in a few Chinese drama series which were well-received in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The singer-actor has an undergraduate degree in business from Australia, and became interested in fitness and sports science while frequenting gyms there.The Brunei Times
